FAQ
1. How can I advertise my rental through OCSS?
Our office has a rental listing form where you can describe your property, establish what kind of roommate
you'd like, and if you allow pets or not. You also get to set your rent price, list the address,
and put out your contact information so people can rent from you. You can get this form either from
our office or the website at www.ocssral.colostate.edu.
We also have lists of student-friendly apartment complexes and property management companies that you may be eligible to advertise on. Contact the office to inquire.
2. How long does my rental listing stay on the online database?
Your rental listing stays on the database for two weeks at a time. After two weeks has passed,
we'll call or email you to let you know that it has expired. After each two weeks, you can make
the decision to renew or not. Again, this is a free service, so you may renew and make changes as often as you'd like.
3. I need to find another roommate, what are my options?
You can start by listing your property on our database by filling out a rental listing form.
You can look at our Roommate Available Book, full of people who are looking for people to live
with. Due to the personal nature of the Roommate Available Book, it is available only in our
office, so stop by and take a look!
We also have events called Roommate Roundups at the end and beginning of every semester where students seeking a house can meet up with those who have space in their houses to rent. Check our web calendar for the next event!
4. I want to live with other people off campus, what are my options?
Check out the roommate available book, and come to a Roommate Roundup! You may advertise yourself as a potential
roommate in our Roommate Available Book. People who have places to live will contact you if you seem compatible.
Due to the personal nature of the information, this book is only available in our office. Stop by and
fill out a form or we can email it to you!
5. How do I know which properties are GLBT friendly?
We keep a book in our office that specifies which of our listings are GLBT friendly. Feel free to stop by and look through it!
6. I am looking for a place to live off-campus, where do I go?
Come to our office or search our website! We have tons of resources, from online listings to student-friendly
apartment complex lists and even a list of student-friendly property management companies to help you figure out
where you'd like to live.
7. What are my options for living on campus?
You may contact Apartment Life at (970) 491-4763. You can also speak to someone in person at the Palmer Center
(near the Durrell Center) or visit them online. If
you're interested in living in the residence halls, call Housing & Dining Services at 491-6511 or
visit their website.
8. I have some issues concerning my lease and my landlord, what do I do?
Come see us, we'll help you decide what you need to do. If you are a full-time CSU student, you may also get free
legal help at Student Legal Services in the
Lory Student Center. Sometimes all you need to do is talk to your
landlord, or facilitate a mediation!
9. What information do you have about lease agreements, city ordinances, security deposits?
We have information about everything! We can tell you about your rights as a student, what to look for before you
sign a lease, what city ordinances you should be aware of, and how to make sure you get that security deposit back.
10. How can I advertise property I have for sale?
If you have property for sale, you can advertise on our Buy/For Sale board in the basement of the
Lory Student Center. You must get your ad approved by an OCSS staff member.
