Peer Mentor program
We understand that transitions can often times be stressful and the campus environment can often times be intimidating and challenging. Our peer mentor program begins with non-traditional students who are trained to work with fellow non-traditional students in a group setting. Groups will meet once a week for the first four weeks of the new semester. We’ll discuss such things as academic skills, transitioning to college life, career planning, and many other important issues facing first year NTS. This allows new students to address questions and concerns about student life. Click here for more information about this program.
Pinnacle Honor Society
PINNACLE is a national honor society that recognizes the outstanding contributions and accomplishments of non-traditional aged students who have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average.
Pinnacle was established in 1989 at Murray State University in Kentucky, and over 145 institutions across the country currently hold membership - from large public universities, including Colorado State University, to small private colleges across the country.
PINNACLE is a recognition honor society that does not require ANY additional involvement in the organization once accepted. However, you have the option of being more involved at CSU.
The CSU chapter focuses on providing opportunities for its members to receive recognition for leadership, scholarship and service, as well as to make contributions to the University and Fort Collins community.
All students selected for induction in PINNACLE must meet the following criteria:
- Qualify as a non-traditional student, age 25 or older and/or non-traditional life circumstances (i.e. single parent, etc.),
- Have junior or senior status,
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (only GPA obtained at Colorado State University will be considered),
- Have been involved in at least three (3) campus and/or community activities,
- Demonstrate leadership, persistence and future promise,
- Maintain the highest ethical standards.
A selection committee consisting of CSU faculty, staff and a Pinnacle Honor Society member reviews the applications and makes recommendations for membership. Notification letters are sent immediately following decisions. A reception for new inductees is held during spring semester.
Applications for membership are available at Off-Campus Student Service/Resources for Adult Learners (OCSS/RAL), Room 195, Lory Student Center, north end, plaza level and by clicking here. For more information about Pinnacle, click here.
